icon Narn attack! - October 24th 2002 - Indie
Some new narn ships have been added and the old ones have been updated. These were ready ages ago, but somehow they never got uploaded on the site. The new ships are: T'Loth, Th'Nor and the monster ship Bin'Tak. Get them from the 'downloads' section. Better late than never, eh?

We are currently balancing the ships and I have a feeling you get to download a working skirmish generator soon. ;-)

icon Models and updates - September 10th 2002 - Indie
EA Omega, Omega-X, The Whitestar and Minbari Nial have been updated. New models: Brakiri Avioki and Minbari Flyer. All at the 'downloads' section.

icon Models galore, new screenshots and a status update - August 24th 2002 - Indie

More ships from Logic Sequence: Earth Alliance Cotton Tender, Centauri Vorchan, Vree Xorr, ISA Excalibur (update) and the Drakh Cruiser. All are at the 'downloads' section.

Next - here is a small update for those of you who have been wondering what we've been doing lately: We are currently working to make all ships work properly as AI ships. We already have many cool scripts such as a test campaign by Roi_Danton, but nothing worth releasing at this point. We also have a working jumpoint script that may still need some refining. The jumppoint script is part of a Buda5 scripting package that will contain many general purpose scripts for Buda5 ships and missions, such as fighter launching, music scripts etc. I have posted some screenshots of some of the effects, the campaign interface -test and some shots of our newer ships. The screenshots are at the 'propaganda' section.

icon Several new models! - July 7th 2002 - Indie
Dragon_Hearth's Earth Alliance Warlock got some finishing touches from Logic and is now ready for download. From Logic Sequence we get an updated EA Nova, EA Triton and Narn Gorith bomber. As usual, get them all from the 'downloads' section.

These are all available in the 'downloads' section. .

icon banners, scenarios and mods - February 16th 2002 - The Merciful
Apart from the obivious update to the site, I've uploaded R2D2's test scenario to 'downloads'. The scenario has been around some time, but it hasn't been available directly from our site yet. Comments and suggestions based on the scenario can be made at our message board.

Speaking of which, there has been some messages about not being able to dock to stations with Omega, and the like, in the normal 'Independence War 2: Edge of Chaos' campaign. Our ships aren't supposed to be fully compatible with the default campaign - they are there to showcase our proggress, give you some taste and draw in new modders. Saving your game while using one of our ship mods isn't advisable, since there appears to be written in the save file some data about the ships. You may end up stuck, so the risk is yours.

Oh, and a scripter gets always a job. (Or anyone else who feels like he/she could be useful.) No seremonies are needed - just start contributing to the mod. Again, the message board is an ideal medium.

The last thing to mention is that the 'propaganda' section has a full new set of screenshots. Twelve of them.

icon particle systems has released the scripting sdk! - January 24th, 2002 - The Merciful
...And we have mirrored it on our own site. Great many thanks to Stephen and the rest of Particle Systems. Since scripters are a rare commodity, let us hear if you're interested in mod scripting. Now's the time... ;-)

Update: PS updated the SDK due some proken links within. The version on our site too is updated from V0.9 Beta to V0.91 Beta.

icon omega with fighters, and the whitestar linked - January 21st, 2002 - The Merciful
Dragon_Heart's Omega with two fighters - either Starfuries or Thunderbolts - added. I've also put the link to the Whitestar mod. The model has been on the server for quite a while, but for some reason the link wasn't in its place. Go to 'downloads' to get both updates.

icon it's raining ships - December 1st, 2001 - The Merciful
EA Starfury, Minbari Sharlin and Narn G'Quan uploaded and linked from 'downloads'. I added some screenshots to 'propaganda'. Note that Sharlin doesn't have have any weapons yet and G'Quan needs some work too - G'Quan isn't player pilotable. If you want stay "on the leading edge" when it comes to Buda5 and Babylon 5 mods for EoC, remeber to visit our message boards. Even more so since Simon has had trouples accessing the ftp server and thus being unable to update our site.

ps. SkyQuake e-mailed me he had made a Nokia cell phone logo for Buda5 for Edge of Chaos. I haven't yet seen it on the Pelit www-site, but keep your eyes open.

icon yowsa! - November 25th, 2001 - The Merciful
The site is now complete with links and all. I've added the official graphical SDK and R2D2's texture converters to 'downloads'. The Thunderbolt is also updated to newer version with sharper textures and more detailed model.

There's an article on Babylon 5 mods I have't seen before. Buda5 has its own paragraph. Text is in Hungarian, so I don't undertand a word, but getting attention is great newertheless. Another thing worth mentioning is Finns out there can get a 'Buda5: Raiders' logo for their Nokia cell phones from Pelit www-site. Cool. Also CNV-301 from the first Independence War is available as a logo.

icon thunder strike - November 20th, 2001 - The Merciful
We have the first textured and armed ship now: Thunderbolt. You can download the mod from the 'downloads' section and watch the screenshots in the 'propaganda' section. A "in progress" version, but I didn't see any reason to not uploading it.

icon the first step - November 12th, 2001 - The Merciful
You may be interested to know that Simon has imported the very first Babylon 5 model to Edge of Chaos. Now, this model is untextured, unfinished, thruster effects are far from final etc. etc. So I'm not uploading it to 'downloads' yet. Anyways, the first step on a long road has been taken, and you can read more about it in this thread.

icon hi there everyone - Septemper 7th, 2001 - The Merciful
OK, if you are wondering if there will be Buda5 for I-War2: Edge of Chaos, we can only tell that we don't know for sure either. It all depends on wether or not Particle Systems will release all the tools and/or plug-ins neccessary to import new models and textures. Anyways, here's what Stephen Robetson of PS had to say about the tools on the INA board:

"As far as tools go there are only a couple of tiny command line programs we used to help us create the game content.

There is NO custom object editor ( we used lightwave ).
There is NO mission editor ( all missions are scripted in pog ).

Since the tools we do have don't have graphical user interfaces they are absolutely no use whatever without extensive documentation.

For example, scripting missions for Edge Of Chaos is not simple - it requires at least a basic knowledge of programming.

In fact it's not really like scripting at all, as it's multi-threaded - you're not limited to running just one script at a time as in I-War. Edge Of Chaos has dozens of scripts running simultaneously while you play the game.

And as there are no tools for placing ships or setting up game situations, all object placement, ship creation, etc. has to be hand coded in pog.

In order for you guys to be able to do that we have to write some detailed documentation on the pog scripting language, and what all the various pog and flux packages do. This won't happen overnight I'm afraid - for example the GUI package which contains the user interface commands contains over 100 separate functions you can use.

So please be patient we'll release the tools when we've got them ready for release."

Anyhow, here's some taste of what might be possible in Buda5 v2.0:
